FOLEGANDROS

I have explored loads of Greek Islands so when i visit a new island I prefer not to pick the most touristy ones but off the beaten path islands! Folegandros was on the Top of the list of Greek Islands i wanted to visit and i can certainly say it didn’t fail to impress me! After our wedding in July we were so excited for our new life together that we wanted to go somewhere to celebrate just the two of us but we were also extremely exhausted from all the planning we just wanted to go to a romantic place were we could relax and Folegandros seemed to be the perfect choice! The island is ideal for a romantic getaway which combines amazing scenery, luxury accommodations, delicious local food and crystal clear green water beaches.

KIFINES LUXURY SUITES

We stayed at the lovely hotel Kifines Luxury Suites. These Suites are simply dreamyyy! They are located just a short walk away from the main town of Folegandros (Chora) and consist of 3 Luxury Suites all featuring stunning views and a small private pool/jacuzzi. We spent 2 nights in the Junior Suite and 2 Nights in the Superior Suite. Both are beautifully decorated in a minimal style with a Private Terrace and a Private Pool with breathtaking sea views overlooking the town. The only actual difference is that the Suite Size and the Private Pool were a bit bigger in the Superior Suite.

The hotel staff were all super friendly and helpful with anything we needed! Every morning we picked from the menu what we wanted to have for breakfast and they would serve us on our very own Sunny Terrace at the time we chose. For me breakfast is a very important meal because i like to start off the day healthy and at Kifines Suites I had lots of delicious healthy options to chose from like fruit salad or yogurt with fruit which was great! We tried a variety of selections for breakfast from their homemade cake and sandwiches to eggs and omelette and everything was super yummy!

We loved staying near the main town and since the island is very small everything was in a walking distance. Some days we were super lazy and didn’t even go to the beach! We just stayed in our Private Suite and lounged by the pool and in the afternoon strolled around the streets of the main town of Folegandros and climbed up to the Church to have a Panoramic Sunset View. We loved our stay and will definitely visit again! Thank you Kifines Luxury Suites for this amazing stay and your hospitality!

BEACHES

Although Folegandros is not famous for its beaches we actually loved them! This island has the prettiest Crystal Clear Green water beaches! Our favorite beach was Agios Nikolaos Beach! You can go there by taking a boat from Agali Beach or by walking through a Path! I always like to take the scenic route so we decided to go by foot through the Path and oh my the views were amazing! The views are breathtaking throughout this path! You can spot some hidden beaches and look at the Green Waters from above! Also, do not forget to visit Papalagi Taverna while at this Beach as it has the most beautiful sea views! Like a balcony hanging over the sea! Simply incredible!

We also loved Agali beach although it was too crowded for us since we visited end of July so didnt manage to find a spot to lounge!

MAIN TOWN + EAT

My favorite part about the Greek Islands is their White Washed features! In Folegandros Island we were literally in White Washed Heaven! I loved strolling for hours exploring all the picturesque streets and getting lost inside the castle! At sunset time we headed to the Church of Panagia up along the hill one day where you can find gorgeous views of the Island at the Top! Also I highly recommend Sunset drinks at either Fata Morgana or Anemomilos Bar Restaurant for breathtaking Sunset Views!

Our favorite restaurant in Folegandros was the Blue Cuisine! Its a new restaurant with a great design and the food is of amazing quality! I give it a 5* review! Its like a gourmet greek kitchen style with super friendly prices! We ate twice there since we liked it so much and tried lots of dishes and everything was delicious! We also had lunch at the lovely taverna Melissa in the center of the Main town where we tried Matsata and several other local delicacies which you should definitely visit as well for a typical Greek Style meal!

All in all we loved everything about Folegandros! It has all the elements we like in Greek Islands so we will def be back again soon!
